Parent Trainers Mission

Our mission as parent trainers is to improve families’ lives by empowering parents.

Our core philosophy is that to get results, parents must be trained.

After a decade of serving families nationwide, we put our parent-intensive training into comprehensive videos that equip parents and caregivers with the skills they need to support their loved ones before, during, and after a mental health crisis. With these trainings, alongside a supportive community and trainers, you will finally have the tools, skills, and support to create the change you want. No more guessing. No more reading another book only to find yourself frustrated in the moment, again. We will train you in an action-oriented way to apply a process with your family.

Over 40 years of experience serving families

The Parent Trainers team came together after years of witnessing both the transformation and ongoing struggles of the families they served. While young people often left treatment feeling healthy, motivated, and ready to take on life, many would struggle again upon returning home to the same family system dynamics.

One day a parent asked Rob, “How do you do it? Can you train me to do what you do?” Parent Trainers was born out of a realization that for true transformation to last, parents need guidance and support in taking new, intentional actions. Real change happens when the whole family grows together.

At Parent Trainers, we believe that everyone is capable of growth and success in life. Our work empowers families to break old patterns, explore new ways of relating, and build stronger communication and life skills. Through training and coaching, parents cultivate the confidence and clarity to support lasting change for themselves and their children.

What Parents are Saying

I needed the rulebook. Just being honest. I thought I needed my son to change and get his life together as a young adult. Turns out I needed to understand why he was falling apart and step in not to fight or force but to teach and show him that he wasn't alone. It's hard to admit that sometimes but I was the one that needed the help. Thanks for the training and Direction- It made all the difference.

Paul was absolutely wonderful working with us and our kids from late teens through early 20s! He had great insights into what was going on with our kids’ struggles, and he gave truly helpful ideas and tips on how to address those issues! Paul’s help, along with our own therapy, has
significantly improved relationships with our young adults!

Turns out the answer wasn't about my kid changing! It was me changing to make room for my daughter to change with me. I did my work and then things could be different- Eternal thanks to my Trainer for the skills and coaching!

MPChicago

As a dad I know that I have always struggled with the emotional part of connecting with my kids. All I wanted was a playbook for how to interact and handle the situations that came up with my kids. Turns out I just needed to be guided by a trainer to learn the skills and then write my own playbook of what worked for me with all my "stuff" taken into account. This work changed everything for me and my kids.

Every now and then you meet someone in your life who is so good at what they do they inspire you to want to be a better person. This is how I feel about Robert Trout, a parent trainer and therapeutic professional with exceptional skill sets and a compassionate heart. Robert worked with my wife and I on the ‘parenting side’ of the family dynamic. This was profoundly useful because we could explore the ways in which we live together as a family.

JNMaryland

I am your biggest Fan! So much help and direction in supporting my daughters recovery and our families restructuring to find a way of "Being" together in our new roles and way of connecting. The hardest work but the most rewarding along the way.

God I wish I found this training and coaching years ago! Things would have been so different. I'm so Grateful I found it now- Such a difference in how we live now as a family!

ASNew York City

I didn't want therapy- Thats all I really knew. Turns out what I needed was some training on how to work with my son. I didn't even know that was an option until finding these trainers. I like the proactive approach and the problem solving strategies are most impactful.

I tell every parent about this company- I am convinced that they can help them as much as its helped me.

MALos Angeles

3 adult kids- as a single mom I need help when they struggle. It's been a lifesaver to have my coach there to go over things and to make a plan that is more directed than reactive. I love my kids and I needed my coach to bounce things off of and have a plan that is not "just me"
